Re: Review: Microsoft AutoRoute
Ho Ho
But if it was caused by living in Oz shouldn't my name be upside down, not back to front?
It's the nickname I've used on the Internet since pre-browser days.
My middle name is McKelvie so backwards that's eivlekcm, pronounced Evilkim.
If you do a Google search on Werdna or Nostaw it's surprising, though nothing that Google locates should surprise me, how many other examples of Werdna and Nostaw are in use.
Werdna - 112,000
Nostaw - 33,000
Werdna Nostaw - 15
Eivlekcm - 1

Have never used this product. Is Autoroute for the US? If it is please enter me in the drawing. Thanks!

Re: Review: Microsoft AutoRoute
Finally I don't have to hit an F key to re-route when I'm off track! Something in 2007 version that constantly irritated me.
Anyone know of an upgrade option?

Streets&Trips is for North America. Autoroute is for Europe.

Re: Review: Microsoft AutoRoute
Is it possible to purchase Autoroute in the US. I know it's for Europe, but want it for vacation travel and planning - but it seems that I can only find Streets&Trips available.

Re: Review: Microsoft AutoRoute
Ben, sooner or later AutoRoute will come to the U.S., too (check here). At this point I only see old versions (2007, 2006) available. Keep in mind that AutoRoute 2010 has not been released to stores even in Europe, yet. A couple of weeks ago Amazon UK advertised ETA December 11 (and I scheduled the start of the contest accordingly ). But now Amazon UK shows ETA of December 30th!
P.S. The distribution of AR to the two winners will depend on the actual release to stores date... Sorry...

Today I was out with my old Toughbook CF-71, which is only 6GB hard disk running W98SE. On it is an old version of MapScorce and AR 2006.
I plugged in my Garmin 2610 but it failed to config with AR, but then MapS did work, showing my location on the map. This old version has the now lost Tab for a GPS panel.
Back to AR and no luck as it only looks for COM1 and not USB.
Does the new version of AR work with any USB GPSr or only those sold by Microsoft? I guess that AR 2010 wont work with W98SE and requires XP or later.

Re: Review: Microsoft AutoRoute
You would need GPS Gate to see the 2610 with any version of S&T or AR.
MapSource lost its GPS functionality after v6.5. The GPS functionality was continued in nRoute which works with Win 98.

Re: Review: Microsoft AutoRoute
I'm using Autoroute with a touchscreen. The new 'select' tool on the right mouse is a pain to use. Before, click 'select' button and select area, now, press and hold, don't move to soon, don't change pressure and select area. Why do MS keep taking away our options?

The option was not removed, just repositioned so you don't have to change where your cursor is. It works fine on my touch screen with Vista; I just wait a second for the circle indicator. Might be more difficult when driving though!

Re: Review: Microsoft AutoRoute
Have missed my Autoroute 2007. Its still OK in the UK but in France they have built so many new roads that its function is severely limited.
Mind you, last years TomTom is no great shakes in France either!

Re: Review: Microsoft AutoRoute
I like the product, but I still have the original GPS receiver for the first version of S&T that had it available, so a newer and better version would be nice to have and as a pensioner, I hate paying :-) so I hope I win

My last version of Autoroute was 2005. It would be great to win a copy and upgrade.
