Easy way to add old pushpins to Streets & Trips 2009
Streets & Trips 2009 has fewer pushpins than previous versions of the program. The pushpins that are included in the new S&T version are different from what users have been used to.
Importing old pushpins one by one is very tedious. But here comes Yves with his software to solve this problem. Originally designed for Microsoft MapPoint 2009 users, his application works for Microsoft Streets & Trips 2009.
Here's the link: http://www.mapforums.com/mappoint-20...pins-8701.html

I tried the tool myself. It works fast. The above screenshot shows the result. It seems the order of the pushpins is messed up a bit, I'm not sure if that is going to be a problem for some users.

Anyway to import the 2008 pushpin icons from ST 2008 to import to 2009 ST version?

Are not all pushpins present? They may be in a different order, but they all may be included.

Re: Easy way to add old pushpins to Streets & Trips 2009
Actually the one that Microsoft provides at that link still does not include all the pushpins. In particular the flags are missing.
Anyone know where to get them?
Also a question about them staying in the program. I imported the old pushpins and then closed out the program. When I reopened S&T 2009 the imported old pushpins were gone. I'm assuming this is one of three reasons. One, I'm using the trial version (even though they say it's fully functional). Two, I deleted the bitmaps after I imported them (but they should be imported correct? They don't need an external copy of them on the drive once you do that). Three, it's busted and it's a bug.
Anyone have a similar experience?
Thanks

Re: Easy way to add old pushpins to Streets & Trips 2009
Perhaps the reason is none of the above. I cannot test this at the moment, but my suspicion is that pushpin symbols may be stored in a file you will need to save. If that is the case, one of us could import all symbols, save the map as template, and then he/she could be kind to share the template with the rest of us . But only if it works. As I said, I don't know for a fact if a saved Streets & Trips file will actually contain pushpin symbols, it's just a possibility that may be worth testing.

I believe you are correct. I just tested this and that is the case. The pushpins must be saved in the file. Another huge PITA.
Man, it's bad enough that I can't get any planning/find features added to S&T but I'm losing functionality every time they come out with the new version.
Extremely frustrating. Makes me think I should just use Street Atlas and be done with it.

Curt, if indeed pushpin symbols can be saved in a Streets & Trips file, then this may actually simplify thinks for many users. One of us just has to take the time to import all old symbols, one by one, into a new S&T 2009 file, then save it as template, and we can post it here on the website, so others can download the template that includes the old-style pushpins. People will save time importing them one-by-one.

Here you go, attaching a zip file that contains 2 template files (ST09 & MP09). The pushpin images in these files were downloaded from the MS Download center

Re: Easy way to add old pushpins to Streets & Trips 2009
That is strange indeed.
I still get the invalid file error. I tried with Mozilla Firefox and IE.
Can you post the links address without http://www.laptopgpsworld.com beginning. I suspect it might be truncated.
In the link I have it ends with
/attachment.php?attachmentid=445&stc=1&d=1224023160
There is no indication of the file name.
