TRUCKs again?

If this is a wish list request for Microsoft Streets and Trips, I'm sure its been requested over and over.

Please make a truck option!!!

Simply avoid parkways and any other non commercial routes would be a great help. Bridge height routing would be the second. Third; rest stop, weigh stations, and truck stop locations.

Also possibly, avoid toll option might prove to be useful in some situations. (especially if you could stipulate that for segments.)

I would also like to see actual speed calculation instead of the current fast slow bar.

I drive a cube truck or a straight truck for art expediting out of Detroit. I go anywhere from commercial addresses to rich gated communities. Our main stomping grounds are Chicago and New York City. Chicago has some bridge heights that are a challenge in routing even for a cube truck. NYC is full of non commercial routes. (It gets very complicated, with avoid boxes, routing out NYC to somewhere in Connecticut.) We've used Streets & Trips since its conception. (We used to print out the maps.) I quickly learned the avoid tool and would have to go over the whole route to make adjustments. If I already weren't familiar with most places we go, S&T would get us in trouble. S&T is a great tool for us to schedule our stops, but we cant rely on it to actually get us there, at least legally or with out damage. Microsoft is missing out on a large market place with some simple data base additions.

That is my wish list and I'm sure this is redundant and falls on deaf ears.

Thank you.

Oh, I forgot this too: How about avoid other countries? LOL. Sure, I'd love to save a few hours cutting across Canada, but with a commercial vehicle that is virtually impossible. For instance route out Detroit to Boston. Streets and Trips would have me travel the 401. (First avoid box.)

The more people talk about a particular feature, the better, IMHO. It shows the developer there is market for the feature.

Ditto for this one, from a Canuck.

Driving to BC from the Maritimes the first Avoid box I get to draw is ME/SC/CA/WA. And because of the weird "draw a rectangle on a sphere" thing S&T does when it avoids stuff I get to draw again for the northern central states (Michigan to Montana-ish) as well.

Having an "avoid" option for certain boundaries (provincial/state/national/city limits) would certainly be useful for several users, I'd think...

"Avoid Customs" would be a handy trick, too.

... in addition to the "Rectangle" tool for drawing Avoid-Areas, it would be nice to have a "Freeform" tool. It would allow us to draw our own shape of area to avoid, instead of having to draw multiple rectangles to achieve the goal.

Re: TRUCKs again?

Truck Stops Plus looks interesting. The Mega POI (Streets 2010 only) also has alot of useful information for truckers... height restrictions, truck stops (Loves, Flying J, TA), rest areas. Can't remember if there were weigh scales in there (I'm an RVer, not a trucker), but what ya don't find in the Mega POI might also be available on POI-factory (POI Factory | new & interesting places for your GPS).

Hope that's helpful...

Regards, Chris
